Childnet has just published a report on its Net Benefit schools programme which the charity piloted in schools in England and Wales in July. The programme which was launched by UK Government minister Beverley Hughes (see previous news item) aimed to assess the best way of communicating Internet safety to pupils, teachers and parents as well as what activities actually help to change Internet behaviour. The whole school programme included specially commissioned drama, lesson plans, teachers sessions and a special evening seminar for parents. The report lists 6 key recommendations. Childnet is now discussing with other partners in the UK and elsewhere how this resource could be made more available. The Net Benefit section of the Childnet website gives further details about the programme.
