| Childnet Supports The Establishment of a New Hotline December 1999 |
The Inhope Forum (Internet Hotlines Providers in Europe) which Childnet set up in 1998 has now become an official Association. See INHOPE Association. The new Association brings together 8 existing hotlines and seeks to facilitate co-operation between these as well as support the establishment of new Internet Hotlines. The overall aim of Inhope is to eliminate child pornography from the Internet and protect young people from harmful and illegal uses of the Internet.
On 29th November a major new Hotline was established by the Internet Service Providers in Ireland with support from the Irish Government. See Hotlines. The Irish hotline will provide a central point of contact for members of the public who become aware of any child pornography on the Internet in Ireland. Childnet and the Inhope Association have both supported the development of this initiative and will continue to work in close co-operation.
