Childnet International has just re designed its main website www.childnet-int.org so that it better reflects the extent of the work that the charity is now engaged in. The re-design coincides with the appointment to Childnet of Sarah Edge, the charity’s first dedicated web designer. Sarah will be working part-time for Childnet and be responsible for updating and promoting the 5 major Childnet websites.

The new website better describes the projects Childnet has been working on its work of promoting the positive things children can do online, as well as the responding to the negative - protection and policy work. The new site includes a new Projects directory www.childnet-int.org/projects which lists 10 of the leading initiatives Childnet is actively involved in. There is also a new Resources section www.childnet-int.org/resources where visitors can order Internet Awareness leaflets, posters, web banner adds and Childnet booklets.

One of areas in which Childnet has been very active over the last few years is in the area of Internet Safety. The new website includes a much improved safety resource section with sub sections for parents, teachers, advice about designing websites and links to Childnet’s research in this area. This section uses cartoons and Childnet’s SMART tips which appeal to both Parents and Children.

Stephen Carrick-Davies who wrote the new website says “Any website must be kept up-to-date regularly and reflect both the work, dynamic and values of the organisation. Childnet has been involved in a great deal of work behind the scenes and it is excellent that our new website better describes these projects and updates our supporters on the important work we are engaged in”.

In the next few weeks the French, Spanish and German language areas will be updated so that Childnet’s International work can be better profiled to those organisations, individuals, and schools abroad who need Childnet’s support and advice.
