Education Consultant
Ellen Ferguson is a qualified and experienced primary school teacher. Prior to obtaining qualified teacher status Ellen was selected to participate on the Jet Programme where she spent two years in Japan teaching primary and secondary aged pupils. She has worked with Childnet since September 2007 where she has been at the forefront of Childnet’s outreach work in the UK, designing and delivering e-safety messages to children and young people, as well as parents and teachers. More broadly, Ellen has coordinated Childnet training for local authority staff to equip them to deliver e-safety messages to teachers, and inducted industry volunteers to be e-safety advocates/champions in their local schools - most recently with O2 and Google staff. Ellen has taken responsibility for the development of new safety resources and has led on the re-design and re-write of content for the new KidSMART site, aimed at educating children, young people, parents and teachers. She has further developed the new Childnet animated primary resource and guidance for use in schools by both teachers and pupils.
Best thing about working at Childnet: Being able to maintain close contact with schools and talk to children about one of the things that they love most in the world!
